Launceston College’s Radio Station, LCFM 87.8, is unique in the K-12 educational sector in Tasmania in that we are the only live to air licenced student radio station in the state. Students are able to enrol in either L2 Media-Radio (replaces Level 4 for 2009) or L3 Media-Radio (replaces Level 5 for 2009 and is a university entrance subject) at the College. The subjects teach students how to manage and run the College’s station that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students are able to create their own shows and work as a DJ in and out of class time. L3 students are engaged in the production of externally assessed practical materials and are also examined via a written examination at the conclusion of the academic year.
