WHAY 98.3FM

WHAY got its start in 1989 when a construction permit was issued for the new FM station in McCreary County, Kentucky. The station officially signed on at 105.9FM in December 1990 playing a variety music format with genres including country, rock, bluegrass, blues and more. Over the years WHAY adopted a "Real Country" format before switching to its Americana (Free Range) format in 2000/2001. In June 2000, WHAY also increased its power and moved down the dial to 98.3FM. We also began streaming live online in the 2000s. Today, WHAY offers a great Americana format, with additional programs featuring classic country, bluegrass, blues, rockabilly and more. In addition, we offer daily news updates, Swap-n-Shop and other community interest programs.
