Since 1939, Newsradio KLBJ has been dedicated to reporting news and providing informative conversation to Austinites. In 1942, a buyer armed with limited capital, a dream, a journalism degree from the University of Texas, and no broadcasting experience became the new licensee—Lady Bird Johnson. Newsradio KLBJ continues to serve the Central Texas community as the only 24/7, live, staffed radio news station in Austin.
